Test & Evaluation Engineer 1\2 TR&A
A flight Test Requirements & Analysis (TR&A) Engineer is needed for support of multi-program test activities (e.g., F/A-18, F-15, T-45, AV-8B, Phantom Eye, JDAM, SDB, QF-16, P-8A etc.).
Typical job responsibilities include: 1) Working with internal and external customers to develop and document real-time and post-test data analysis requirements to satisfy test objectives; 2) Design, develop, and implement complex calculations in support of test objectives; 3) Coordination with test facility personnel to maintain test readiness in support of real-time data display/recording; 4) Troubleshoot/fix/support test data issues before, during, and after test activities; 5) Supporting real-time testing and using Personal Computer (PC) hardware/software to process & analyze test data; 6) Troubleshooting problematic test data and coordinating with instrumentation and software programming personnel for problem fixes and new installation/development; 7) Analyzing recorded and calculated test data & assessing for quality prior to release to data end-users; 8) Updating & maintaining Avionics data bus traffic and/or Post Code Modulation (PCM) format definition files/databases for use in data recording & processing;
Test Requirements and Analysis engineers support testing in multiple disciplines including Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Aircraft Subsystems, Loads, Dynamics, Flutter, Avionics, Weapons, and Mission Systems.
This is an entry level position for spring/summer 2012 college grads or recent college grads. Prior experience (internship or full time) in one of the following areas is desired but not required:
a) Monitoring and data analysis of flight testing including Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Aircraft Subsystems, Loads, Dynamics, Flutter, Avionics, Weapons, and/or Mission Systems.
b) Setup of test data processing systems for flight tests and coordinating real-time displays with customers and software engineers.
c) Requirements generation in support of Test Data Processing System design. Use and familiarity with Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Flight Test Data Processing systems and their operation is desired.
d) Coordinating and identifying test instrumentation and data requirements to satisfy test program objectives and support test plan development.
e) Developing and documenting aerodynamic related computations such as mass properties, air data, airflow, thrust, lift, and drag.
f) Identifying instrumentation calibration and correction requirements to ensure accurate data
g) Analyzing, Processing, and troubleshooting data from instrumentation acquisition systems and aircraft avionics bus systems such as Military Standard (MIL-STD-1553), Ethernet, Fibre, and/or ARINC 429/629.
Coordination is required with a variety of internal (Boeing) & external (Government) customers and intra-departmental flight test contacts (e.g. Aero/Loads/Dynamics/Avionics Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Instrumentation, Data Processing, Flight Operations, Software Programming). The successful candidate will need to have excellent leadership, team building, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a commitment to customer satisfaction. This position is based in St. Louis and may require travel (short term or DTA) and/or permanent relocation in support of testing to alternate test sites (e.g., Pax River NAS; China Lake NAS; Eglin AFB; Nellis AFB; Edwards AFB; etc.). Work hours for this position are normally first shift, work hours on 2nd or 3rd for extended periods of time may be required to support testing.

This requires candidates: a) To maintain a FAA class 3 flight physical. b) To complete training in full flight gear (helmet, gloves, boots, flight suit, parachute harness and survival vest). Training includes a surface swim, treading water, drown proofing, egress underwater swim, orally inflating a life vest, and a hypobaric chamber flight. c) To meet seat safety requirements, candidates must not exceed 250lbs. Typical Education/Experience
Level 1 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
