Systems Administrator/Web Systems Administrator – Full- time
Exempt Status
The Systems Administrator assists in installing, maintaining and securing all system platforms and networks for the Oblate Missionary Society, Inc. (OMSI) and National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, IL. This role assists with network and systems administration and provides support and administration for web server deployments and website hosting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Installs hardware and software and maintains network operations in a Windows environment, including cabling, LAN/WAN, VoIP, and wireless communication.
Administer, troubleshoot, and secure web system servers, IIS hosting environments, and web based applications.
Manage and support e-commerce solutions.
Administration of MS SQL Server, MySQL and SQL based applications.
Assists in desktop and end-user technical support.
Provides system support to other Oblate entities in the metropolitan St. Louis area.
Assist in System and Network Administration security management and user account management.
Assist in the administration of MS Exchange 2007 and later environment including spam filtering systems.
Helps administer, troubleshoot, and maintain multiple organizational networks included both private business networks and internal public networks.
Assist with performance monitoring and network issue resolution.
Assist in the implementation, troubleshooting, and support MS PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, and SonicWall VPN deployments as required by organizational needs.
Helps maintain documentation and procedures for networks, systems operations, data base management and installation.
Helps maintains inventory of all network and systems hardware and software.
Assist with system back-ups and disaster recovery.
Responsible for staying current with technology which may be achieved by working toward certification through Internet classes, seminars, or attending college during or after work.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
Must be effective at interfacing extensively with end users, peers, computer technicians and other Information Technology personnel for the resolution of technical issues and questions.
Must be able to effectively diagnose and resolve system hardware, software, and network issues.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have an aptitude to research and quickly learn new technologies to support all aspects of the IT department and supported organizations.
Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks as organizational needs change or issues arise.
Must be a self-starter and be able to work alone or as part of a team.
Education and/or Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent education/work experience.
2+ years experience with windows administration and active directory. Expertise with DNS, LDAP, and Windows networking protocols.
Strong system administration background in a TCP/IP, WAN/LAN environment.
Knowledge of network, system, and web hosting security best practices including PCI compliance.
Experience administering MS SQL Server and MySQL.
Experience implementing SSL-secured applications.
Experience with installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, securing web servers especial IIS 7.0.
Experience with Content Management Systems
Experience administering MS Exchange.
Plus
Experience with virtualization with MS Hyper-V is a plus.
Experience administering firewalls is a plus. (PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, Sonicwall, etc.)
Experience with SharePoint and/or MS Reporting Services is a plus.
Knowledge in website development using ASP, , PHP is a plus.
