Laser Weld Operator

Purpose: Complete daily work assignments in accordance with standard work provided. Has the responsibility and authority to insure all jobs meet the companies’ safety and quality standards. Routine Decision Making / Problem Solving: 1. Read, interpret and execute the job plan as outlined by the standard work provided; 2. Incorporate safety and environmental into daily action; and, 3. Provide management feedback on all phases of production. Essential Responsibilities: 1) Incorporate safety and environmental into daily action. 2) Responsible for monitoring and improving himself/herself with respect to behavior and performance. 3) Complete all assigned work in accordance with standard work, quality and safety requirements. Provide management feedback. 4) Responsibility to meet Production, Quality and Customer Service Objectives. 5) Be able to communicate with management, customers and outside regulatory or auditing organizations. 6) Basic computer reasoning and skill to be able to utilize robotic programs, time keeping, simple spreadsheets for inventory. 7) Utilize root cause analysis to resolve problems and difficulties with work processes. 8) Provide operational feedback to management on manufacturing techniques, etc. 9) Provide continuous improvement feedback of all new and existing work.



Requirements:

Required knowledge: 1) Manual and robotically controlled welding operations including: PTA, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, and Laser. 2) Manual and robotically controlled thermal spray operations including but not limited to set-up, part cleaning, masking/demasking, clean-up, arc spray, combustion spray, HVOF, Plasma, Fusion, Rockide, Cold Spray, Accuspray, Shot Peeing, Sand blasting, water jet stripping, welding, NDT, inspection and documentation, and boxing and packing of product. 3) Basic computer reasoning and skill to be able to utilize robotic programs, time keeping, simple spreadsheets for inventory. Big plus if have programming skills. 4) Know how to work within the Company Safety and Environmental Standards: a. Know how to assemble, safely operate, start-up, and close down equipment. b. Be able to recognize and mitigate unsafe conditions and acts. c. Be able to confirm correct operation of environmental systems. d. Know how to select appropriate PPE based on the job requirements. 5) Know how to and work within the Company Quality Standards: a. FAA Repair Station (1988) b. ISO 9001:2000 certified (2001) c. EASA Certified (2004) d. AS9100 (2006) e. NADCAP FPI (2007) f. Thermal Spray and LAB NADCAP (Sep 2009) Required skills or abilities: Ability to communicate with peers, supervisors, customers, vendors or auditors and operators. Know the work flow in the shop including where parts, fixtures and equipment are located for jobs and customers. Know the use of all gauges used for inspection and able to work to tight tolerances. Formal education: Technical or vocational school; Additional College Training a plus. Experience: 5-8 years
