Manufacturing Process Chemist/Engineer
The company is currently seeking a Manufacturing Process Chemist/ Engineer to join our team at our St. Louis site. This person will support the facility through optimization of chemical reaction and purification processes, the drying and the custom processing of colorants. This person will execute projects designed to improve plant thoughput, improve product costs and improve facility safety. This person will ensure that all SOPs are up to date and accurate, driving batch to batch consistency at the highest purity level. In addition, this person will be responsible to insure best practices are transferred from the St. Louis site from other company sites around the world, as needed. This position will spend approximately 65% of their time in the plant, 30% of their time in the lab and the balance working in their office.
Responsibilities
Support the cost position of specialty chemicals by optimizing the yield of chemically synthesized products. This will include maximizing the reaction yield and also identifying the cost impact of alternative sources of raw materials on the cost of the product.
Optimize production efficiencies through monitoring of process data, downtime analysis and lab scale experiments.
Develop methods to increase the manufacturing capabilities for products being sourced to improve the security of the supply chain.
Develop or update standard operating procedures for each process to ensure batch to batch consistency

B.S. degree or higher. Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is strongly required.
Minimum of two years experience in a manufacturing facility with experience as a Process Chemist or Production Engineer. Food or food ingredient manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Experience in an R&D environment will be considered, but strongest consideration will be given to candidates with experience in a plant environment.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead projects or issue based teams to successful outcomes.
Experience in cGMP or FDA regulated environments
Demonstrated capacity for sound decision making and professional judgement.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate project outcomes/ updates throughout the organization and the ability to make presentations to peers and senior management.
