F\A 18 FIRST AME Information Assurance Engineer 3

The Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) team has a need for Systems Security Engineers in support of the F/A-18 Automated Maintenance Environment (AME) program to perform Information Assurance (IA) tasks including: developing and maintaining certification and accreditation packages; analyzing and applying DoD security policies; performing IA vulnerability analysis and validation; and developing and communicating/coordinating vulnerability mitigation plans. Responsibilities for this position also include working with the Navy customer, presenting details of the security approach and status of progress; working with system/software engineers to implement and test security features; identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for program success; developing and delivering presentations; and proposal writing activity to win future contracts with Information Assurance requirements. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated the ability to participate in successful accreditation efforts for complex DoD systems comprised of both COTS and military processing and communications components. Experience with the DIACAP certification process is highly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems, client-server and web-based architectures, and relational databases is required.

• System Security Processes
Complete knowledge of system security domains (e.g., information assurance, anti-tamper, intrusion detection, software protection, software assurance, communications security, encryption and key management, network security, reverse engineering, countermeasures, certification and accreditation, special security endorsement) and industry and government guidance and regulations [e.g., Common Criteria, DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP), National Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (NIACAP), Director Central Intelligence Directive DCID 6/3] which engineers apply to produce secure systems.

• Tech Risk Mgmt & Perf Measure
Broad working knowledge of the methodology and processes associated with risk management, and conducting trade studies, including cost as an independent variable (CAIV) trades. Ability to: identify and quantity potential risks areas within specific (depth), understand design constraints (technical, cost & schedule), identify and trade alternatives (i.e., trade studies), select/recommend the best plan for mitigating risks, implement/execute plans for mitigating risk, establish appropriate performance tracking metrics to track risk burndown over time. Ability to effectively utilize risk management tools (iso-risk charts/plots, waterfall, etc) to support program/project execution.

Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information
Position is contingent on contract award (anticipated January 2012) and customer security approval. Occasional overtime may be required.
