Corporate Buyer
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing and Supply Management, the Corporate Buyer ensures that supply chain processes are consistent with and supportive of Silgan strategies. Ensures that work complies with internal and external policies and regulations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oracle Super-User:
An Oracle Super-User has the ability to use advanced features of the Oracle Procure to Pay module which are beyond the abilities of "normal" users. Individual has to be a specialist in the Procurement Business process.

  • Supports SOX regulations as regards to system controls and policies
  • Maintains and updates SOX narratives and purchasing procedures document
  • Maintains and updates approval hierarchies within system according to Delegation of Authority
  • Checks Segregation of Duties are in place according to published documents
  • Coordinates and resolves system issues in conjunction with IT, HR, Audit and Finance
  • Maintains and updates new hires or new transfers responsibilities
  • Creates Purchase Orders for Chesterfield office
  • Guides and trains purchasing group of approximately 20 associates
  • Work with plant schedulers and Corporate specifications to ensure database of suppliers and items information is accurate and up to date
  • Creates and Assigns sourcing rules
  • Data Load Blanket Purchase Agreements and Quotations for plant needs
  • Test Patches and new module enhancements
  • Investigate and implement new system changes and enhancement modules

    Achieve a competitive advantage in total cost, quality, and supply continuity in assigned indirect spend areas:
    Spend management responsibilities include:
  • Services Facilities maintenance, Print Program, Shred Program
  • Fleet Fork trucks and Cars
  • Inks
  • Technology, ERP
  • Freight LTL, TL and Small Packages
  • Travel
  • Office and safety supplies
  • Uniforms
  • Relocation Services
  • Rental Cars
  • Telecom
  • Temporary Labor
  • Investment Recovery (Scrap)

    Additionally-
  • Identify, develop, implement and monitor opportunities for process improvement and value creation initiatives. Continuously streamline Procure to Pay Value Chain
  • Research and analyze sourcing data, market trends, benchmarking best practices, and maintain market awareness to provide continuous improvements for sourcing strategies.
  • Identify and develop key spend areas for negotiation for maximum value
  • Review supplier relationships, renegotiate supplier contracts, identify and develop supplier process improvement initiatives.



    Requirements:

    EDUCATION:
    Required: Bachelors degree in business, MBA or equivalent preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:
    Required: 2-4 years of supply chain experience.

    SKILLS:
    Required: Proficiency on a major ERP system, preferably Oracle. Strong Microsoft suite skills.
