Job Description: The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.
Responsibilities: This CAD Position requires a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2012 and either Carlson Civil 3D/Survey or AutoCAD Civil 3D software, generally in a civil engineering environment. This position is part-time; hours will be established on an as-needed basis to handle overflow work from the existing project CAD staff. This position may grow into a full-time position as the need develops. Typical work activities in support of environmental remediation in the St. Louis area include the following:
Prepare new drawings and revise existing drawings using an existing, complex, multi-layered project base map utilizing existing drafting and land survey standards. Properly manage externally referenced drawings. Utilize drawing markups and other information provided by project geologists, surveyors, and engineers (authors) to create and revise work; utilize a "checkprint" system with authors to perform quality checks on drawing changes. Coordinate with other CAD personnel to carefully manage and coordinate changes to the base map and other existing files and databases. Import land survey topography data provided by the site surveyor into drawings. Use CAD applications to prepare elevation contours of existing ground surfaces. Develop grading plans based on direction from engineers/geologists for planned remedial excavations. Develop final grading plans to specify site restoration. Prepare construction drawings, including plans, profiles, and cross-sections of planned excavation, or other features such as sewers and other utilities that may require removal and subsequent replacement. Prepare as-built drawings from field data provided. Calculate and report volumes of proposed and completed excavations using CAD software capabilities. Must have 5+ years of experience.
